Matteo Moschetti is one of the ever-growing group of cyclists in today’s professional peloton who call Monaco, the small Mediterranean principality nestled in the famously mild and pleasant French Riviera, home. With its mild winter climate, excellent road surfaces and access to important climbs within minutes of leaving the city, Monaco offers riders an excellent base for the meticulous winter training demanded by today’s professionals to be successful during the season. To investigate further these famous local conditions, we visited star-sprinter Matteo Moschetti at his Monaco home and joined him on a classic winter training in around the principality wearing, of course the Dottore Hybrid Que Long Sleeve Jersey and Dottore Hybrid Bib Tights, the most intensely versatile pieces in our winter range. The Dottore Hybrid system is in fact engineered specifically for the kind of mild but volatile winter conditions that characterize the Mediterranean Riviera climate, where crispy early mornings often turn into bright and sunny 15°C+ | 59°F+ middays contrasted by sudden showers or chilly humidity in the evening, demanding intelligent kit able to constantly adapt to the riders needs through breathability, moisture management and lightweight protection.
“The main thing I look for in my winter training gear is versatility because here in Monaco you leave your house on the coast and it is sunny and 10°C even 15°C then you ride straight up into the mountains and the conditions can change completely, from humidity or even rain to temperatures of 5°C. That’s why my favourite training gear is the Dottore Hybrid System. No matter what conditions I encounter it’s never the wrong choice.”
Matteo Moschetti – Pinarello Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team
The third generation of a quintessential Q36.5 icon, the Dottore Hybrid Que Long Sleeve is the ultimate hybrid winter jersey/jacket, designed to offer maximum versatility across body temperatures and weather conditions meaning you’ll end up wearing it more than any other item in your winter wardrobe. At the core of this hybrid’s versatility is the nuanced body mapping use three proprietary fabrics: pinstripe material on the back panel for ventilation, the signature UF Hybrid fabric for the chest and outer arms for wind control, and a softer insulating fleece fabric for the inner arms and stomach.
Specially requested by our Pro Team for the Northern Classics, the Q36.5 Dottore Hybrid Bib Shorts are for riders looking to maintain that same “race feel” of their summer bib shorts well into winter. The Dottore Hybrid Bibs feature the same Lumbar Support Panel as our Dottore Pro bib shorts coupled with a brushed knitted thermal fabric for the legs to achieve an unrestricted and “not-even-there” feeling. Riders living in the Mediterranean or other areas with moderate winters will be able to wear these bibs throughout winter.
The first and most striking characteristic of the Q36.5Base Layer 2 – recommended for temperatures over 15°C - is its extraordinary softness and elasticity that allow the garment to stretch perfectly to the contours of your body for that invisible, next-to-body feeling. Combining this with our signature advanced body mapping, which uses multiple integrated structures and densities to accommodate the different sweat zones of the body, and a 100% seamless construction with an unhemmed finish, gives you a garment that is both high performing and practically indestructible even after years of use.
A true “leg weapon” for riders who want to train properly in autumn, the Hybrid is an ultralight pair of tights with an exceptionally wide temperature range. Constructed with proprietary smart fabrics and a truly minimalist pattern (no frontal facing seams!) refined over ten years, the Hybrid Bib tights are characteristised by the same ergogenic and supportive feel as our famous Dottore Pro bib shorts and will keep you feeling warm, dry and explosive no matter the intensity of your ride or weather conditions.
The Q36.5 Dottore Hybrid Vest is characterized by its exceptional versatility across temperature ranges and riding conditions, thanks to its pioneering use of high density woven fabrics that mimic the qualities of shell fabrics but without the use of membranes, achieving superior breathability and moisture management. Riders will immediately notice how the Dottore Hybrid Vest keeps them significantly drier and warmer than vests of equivalent volume, especially on high intensity rides. This third generation version of our signature vest is characterized by even more advanced body mapping. We invested in months of wind tunnel studies with our Pro Team and the Japanese cycling federation that allowed us to better understand the movement of chilly winter air around the flanks of the cyclist. In fact, the thermal UF shell fabric now covers not just the front of the rider but flanks and part of the back as well. The central part of the back uses an ultralight mesh fabric and mesh pockets have been added to the vest. Unhemmed construction of the sleeve openings - new for this year - reduces weight while increasing longevity and comfort.FOR WOMEN: Order one size smaller: e.g. if you wear a S in women’s jerseys, we suggest you order the XS size of this jersey.
Based on our radically minimal and lightweight summer Clima sock, the Hybrid uses the same advanced construction method but with a premium 100% wool fiber to create the perfect sock for riders obsessed with a feeling of direct contact with the pedals, even when temperatures drop.
Keeping your fingers warm and your palm protected provides essential comfort and control, especially as temperatures start to dip. The Q36.5 Hybrid Que X Gloves use highly technical materials to ensure your hands stay warm without overheating during trans-seasonal bike rides. It’s a versatile, low-profile mid-season cycling glove enhancing your comfort and protection.
Our essentialist mid-season leg warmers are engineered with pre-shaped fit pattern and constructed from a protective, fast-drying micro brushed fleece that is extremely soft and pleasant to wear.
