June 16, 2020 – LAPS Foundation – Libera Accademia Progetti Sperimentali, a non-profit organization founded by Lapo Elkann and Q36.5, an Italian brand specialized in the production of technical clothing for cycling, donated 1,500 children’s masks to the Istituto Giannina Gaslini Children’s Hospital of Genoa.
The protective masks, which do not fall under the category of medical devices and are distributed by the hospitals’ health care personnel to the children when they leave the hospital, are made with a water-repellent, breathable fabric with high filtering power and antibacterial silver thread.
This initiative of the LAPS Foundation carried out together with Q36.5 is one of the projects promoted by the non-profit organization chaired by Lapo Elkann with the goal to make its’ support felt during this difficult historical moment in various ways including fundraising and the donation of food and PPE – for the most fragile in the community.
Q36.5 is a company active in the production of clothing that, thanks to its’ technological research laboratory in the field of sports, has created a proprietary fabric with a very high density weave.
Lapo Elkann, president of the LAPS Foundation comments: “During this emergency it is essential to join forces for the benefit of those who need it most. This is the spirit behind the donation made together with Q36.5, a company with exceptional human values. Since 2016, under my Foundation, we have been taking care of the well-being of minors. And, during this pandemic, we have given aid paying particular attention to those who represent our future.”
Sabrina Emmasi, General Manager of Q36.5 said: “The Never Give Up charity collection promoted by the LAPS Foundation has pushed our company, which has always been attentive to issues aimed at the well-being of the community, to further social commitment. For this reason we have joined forces with LAPS to protect the health of minors. We believe that in a moment like the present one, even when faced with production difficulties due to the lockdown period, it is extremely important to make ones’ willingness to reach out and help felt by those most in need.”
