The perfect lunch ride

route-jenesien

The perfect lunch ride – and it’s near our HQ! San Genesio-Meltina

We would like to share with you our favourite 45km loop that includes 1,832 meters of climbing, it’s a challenging ride that improves our condition for the upcoming racing season.

Starting at the Q36.5 headquarters we quickly reach an arduous climb to San Genesio, a small village near Bolzano that lies 1,100 meters above sea level.

The climb is 8.8 kilometers with an average gradient of 8.4%.  It’s an ideal climb for mid-season rides as it faces south, getting good sun and offering amazing views of the city of Bolzano.

After riding through San Genesio we are greeted by a hilly road in a wooded area that leads us in the direction of Meltina. Near Flaas there are two more small but steep, one kilometer climbs that are a good test for our post San Genesio legs.

Once we reach Meltina we start a beautiful descent to Terlano which offers a view over the Adige valley between Merano and Bolzano and is dense with apple orchards.  The last 10 kilometers into Bolzano are flat, the perfect way to cool down after this intense ride.

Luckily Bolzano has no shortage of cafes for a well deserved coffee stop! Why not try it out?  Perhaps we’ll meet you on the road!
