    Tre Cime Lavaredo

Vincenzo Nibali won the final mountain stage of the 2013 Giro d’Italia at Tre Cime di Lavaredo with a masterful solo ride, while conquering snowstorms and wearing the maglia rosa. We retraced a part of the triumphant ride.

Starting from Cortina d’Ampezzo, we took off on a dream road with a gentle incline up to Lago di Misurina. The perfect place for a short break before heading towards the start of the mighty climb up to Tre Cime di Lavaredo. This is where things get serious.

After turning off the main road towards the iconic climb, the Tre Cime di Lavaredo, you are initially welcomed by a steep hill. A kind of appetizer before rolling down to the tollbooth. The last chance to loosen up your legs before tackling the very climb Vincenzo mastered in a snowstorm, thereby defending the Giro d’Italia leader’s jersey.

    Passo Giau

To spice things up and explore more of the beautiful Dolomites, the second part of the ride took us up to Passo Giau. A rhythmic climb with many curves, passing through woods before having a clear view of the finish a few km below the top of the pass.
Once the top of the pass was reached, warming accessories were pulled on and and we swept down the final descent back to Cortina d’Ampezzo.
